“   FIT TO GO” for the Summer. A FITNESS CAMP PROGRAM FOR KIDS ages 7-13

This is a fitness-healthy lifestyle oriented camp for kids that includes Rebounding, Jump Rope Training, Chinese Jump Rope, Hula Hoop Aerobics, Kickboxing, Stability Ball, Bosu Ball, Plyometrics, Calisthenics, Hip Hop movement classes, Strength Training and Mini Boot Camp sessions, and playground fun and games all performed to awesome, kid friendly, high energy music.  Interactive NUTRITION & HEALTHY LIFESTYLE LESSONS are followed by FUN, creative healthy snack preparations. Bodywise will also provide an active video gaming segment of Wii Sports and Dance, Dance Revolution.  Each camper will receive exercise music CD, a picture DVD of their camp experience and a Fun to Be Fit tee shirt.

Bodywise will provide 3 sessions for the summer of '09. We start each day with mini-power walks and continue on to the other fitness formats described above.  We also have playground fun and games after our relaxing lunch under the trees (weather permitting) and end our day with gentle Yoga postures and soothing relaxation. 

In our “Fit-Kids in the Kitchen” segment, kids will learn how to’s of healthy eating, how to prepare healthy snacks along with nutritional education.  Campers will learn how to read and evaluate food labels, good carbs, bad carbs, the glycemic index of foods, serving size, fiber, fat, sugar, salt content and so much more.  Each 6-hour day is loaded with unique physical activity and fun projects.  Kids will learn to appreciate the importance of living a happy, healthy lifestyle, for a lifetime!

Campers will also have “down time” at the end of a very active day for reading and or writing. Campers will be encouraged to participate in the summer reading program, so we will be flexing and stretching our minds as well as our muscles! All of the activities described are held both inside and around the grounds at Davenport Ridge School.

Wear light comfortable clothing and bring a large towel.  We will be outside during part of the day, so please apply sunscreen (SPF 30) before you come and have some on hand to reapply. Please make sure you pack a healthy lunch, light on the “junk food” heavy on the fruits and veggies. Bring plenty at least 3 bottles of water and at least one small sports drink.  We will be very active so make sure your camper has a good breakfast.  We recommend the campers eat a minimum of 1/2 hr. prior to camp, so they will be comfortable during exercise before our 12:30 lunch break.  Must register at Gov't center for discounts - not online.
